Bitefender Safego uses the following color code to rank the severity of a threat (flags against the accounts):
  • Red: Highly suspicious accounts. Accounts usually get a red flag after they are detected as spreading malware, spam or as being used for phishing.

  • Yellow: Moderate threat. While they are not necessarily spam bots, accounts flagged with this color attract followers using mechanisms that may be considered spammy or annoying by certain users.

  • Grey: Low threat. Grey flags indicate that no message has been sent from the respective account for the past 30 days. If the account holder is unknown to you, this may raise doubts as to the legitimacy of the account’s purpose.

Samsung Launching Their Own Messaging Service

BlackBerry made it popular with their BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service. Apple is launching iMessage with iOS 5. And now Samsung is joining the non-text-message-messaging-service party with ChatOn.

ChatOn, which is set to go live in September in over 120 countries, is Samsung's stab at creating a new world-wide messaging platform to compete with the aforementioned services, and work around cell carrier's asinine text-messaging fees. However, Samsung appears to be looking to reach a much larger audience than BBM and iMessage.

The ChatOn service will be compatible across multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Bada, BlackbBerry and a Web client users can download for their PCs. This appears to be the services main advantage over its competitors - and its huge. Being able to message friends across multiple platforms almost eliminates the need for text messaging. Not something the telecoms will be happy about.
This isn't the only feature Samsung is touting, though. ChatOn includes group messaging, video and voice messages, as well as contact, location and calendar sharing. Also, a number of social media interactions appear intertwined with the service including profile pages, comments on said pages, and an Interaction Rank feature that ranks your contacts based on how often you interact with them.

ChatOn is most importantly free, like iMessage and BBM. It appears the assault on traditional text-messaging will continue until carriers are forced to drop the service. That wont be for a while yet, but the end is nearing.

Top 10 ways to improve your iPad’s Battery life

Apple claims that one of the best feature of the iPad is its long battery life -- Wi-Fi only version will last ten hours, and the 3G iPad will last nine hours before needing a charge. Both of those stats are pretty much impressive.

How ever in the real world the same thing not happens, what happens in Apple’s laboratory test. When you watch movies continuously and running background process and email notifications and you aren't likely to get six or seven hours out of the iPad.This guide is help to get the battery life what Apple’s claims but you have to turn off the some features of the iPad.

ipad_battery

1.Lock your iPad when you aren't using it. Sure, it will auto-lock after a set period of time, but why leave it sitting there wasting battery when it's so simple to lock? While you're at it, shorten the auto-lock settings; head to Settings > General > Auto-Lock and set the interval to a shorter time -- a minute at the most.

2.Dim the screen. This is probably the biggest single thing you can do to save battery life. By default, the iPad has its Auto-Brightness feature turned on. This means the screen adjusts to the ambient lighting around you. That's convenient, but in low light situations, the screen is running at battery-draining level of brightness for no reason. Head to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper and notch the brightness down a bit.

3.Ditch the case. Some cases can cause the iPad to become quite warm. The rechargeable Lithium-based battery in the iPad is sensitive to heat, and it lasts longer when it's cooled. Taking the iPad out of its case will keep it from retaining heat, giving you more battery life. Not much, but every bit counts sometimes. Apple says 72° F (or 22° C) is the ideal working temperature. Also, taking your iPad out of its case while charging it will help, since it generates extra heat while charging.

4.Completely drain your battery. Every so often (Apple says once per month) it's a good idea to charge your iPad all the way up, then use it until the battery completely drains and the device shuts itself off. This lets the device know where the lower limit of the battery is, as that mark can change over time.

5.Keep the iPad up to date. Make sure you're always running the most recent version of iOS. Software updates usually fix bugs and odd behaviors, and running the most current OS usually benefits battery life.

Learn to love Airplane Mode. All of the wireless networking services in the iPad -- Wi-fi, Bluetooth and 3G -- will cause stress on your battery, even if you're not surfing the web or streaming lots of data. The easiest way to temporarily disable all forms of networking at once is to switch into Airplane Mode when you don't need to connect to anyone or anything -- say, when you're watching a movie, working on a document, or reading an e-book.
If you'd like to keep some services running, stay out of Airplane mode and only disable whatever you need to use the following steps.

6.Turn off 3G and Wi-fi. Whenever you're on Wi-fi, turn off the 3G network radio if your iPad supports 3G. Go to Settings then Cellular Data and flip the switch to off.
Although it severely limits the usefulness of your iPad, if you're just watching a movie or reading a book anyway, turn off the Wi-fi and make the battery last a bit longer. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.

7.Disable Bluetooth. Like the other forms of wireless networking, Bluetooth drains the battery. Assuming you aren't using any peripherals that need it, turn it off.

8.Watch your apps. There are two types of apps that are particularly hard on your iPad's batteries -- games that never let the screen dim and social location-based services that constantly check your geo-whereabouts. Make sure you shut down such apps when you're not using them.

9.Disable push notifications. The built-in Mail app, as well as dozens of social apps you may download, poll servers in the background look for new tweets, mail and messages, all of which costs your precious battery life. Open Settings and tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then find the Fetch New Data settings and turn off Push.

10.Delay data fetching. If you've turned off push notifications, go a step further and make Mail and other apps check-in with the server less frequently. To increase the fetch interval, go to Settings and select Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then select Fetch New Data and tap Hourly. You won't get mail or calendar invitations immediately unless you manually fetch that stuff, but your iPad will still check once per hour. Note that this is a global setting and applies to all apps. It's also worth noting that setting Fetch New Data to hourly means you can't find your iPad using the MobileMe Find My iPad tools.

Your Computer Slow..? How to Speed Up …?

The life of many of us depends strongly on our computer and we spend more time on our computer than everywhere else and we want the best for our computers. Some people believe that since they spend most of their time on the internet their internet connection is what matters and not their computer; it doesn’t matter if you have the fastest broadband internet in the world your computer will have a great impact on the results you get, even when you work online. This blog post will be giving you some tips on making your computer faster.

Upgrade Your Memory

Your computer memory is the number one element that will determine how fast your computer will be. You can’t be using a 256mb ram and be expecting your computer to be fast. Your computer memory is very important and it will determine how fast or slow your computer is. Your computer memory should also be synonymous with your computer Pentium and hard drive. For example, using a 256mb ram with a 260 GB hard drive on a Pentium 4 computer is highly dangerous and will end up ensuring your system gives you many problems as long as you’re using it.

You can see your system configuration (Ram, hard disk space, Pentium and Operating System Version) by right clicking the “My Computer” icon on your desktop and by selecting “Properties”.

Upgrade Your Hardware

If your computer is giving you speed problems lately you should also make sure you check to see if you are using the latest hardware produced by your computer manufacturer because the hardware you use has a great effect on the results you get. If you’re not that a tech geek you might want to take your computer to the nearest computer shopcentre in your area and ask them to help you check and upgrade your computer system.

Clean Up Your Desktop

Another way to make your computer faster is by removing all unnecessary icons from your desktop. A lot of people keep installing applications while letting the icons clutter their desktop. This is known to slow down a computer because it will have a great effect on your RAM which will end up affecting your whole computer system. If you’re no longer using an application or if you see you don’t need to use an application often make sure you remove its icon from your desktop.

Check Your System for Viruses

This is probably the most important thing you should do first.
Anytime you notice your computer hanging or misbehaving the first thing you should do is to make sure you check your computer for viruses. Viruses can be very subtle and dangerous and it is often impossible to discover them on your own so make sure you install a solid antivirus and do a regular scan for viruses on your computer. One of the best antiviruses we have in the world is the Avast! Antivirus.

Desktop browsers - Comparison ....!

Choosing a browser was much simpler in the past. There were fewer choices available and usually there would be a clear winner. These days you have a lot more options available and all of them are more or less similar. So which one should you choose for the best browsing experience ?
Some things such as the UI and features are subjective. You might like the look of a particular browser that someone else won’t or there might be a particular feature in a browser that you must have that others might not care for much. But there is one things that isn’t subjective and that is performance. It has to be the very best regardless of the browser you choose. So today we decided to leave everything else aside and compare this aspect of the web browsers available for Windows to see which one came out on top.

This means we will only be running benchmarks on them and comparing the scores. We have chosen the five major browsers available on the Windows platform: Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 6, Chrome 13, Safari 5 and Opera 11. Each browser was on the very latest stable version currently available from its developer.

As for the benchmarks, we chose four of the most popular browser benchmarks available today: Sunspider, Peacekeeper, V8 Benchmark Suite and the HTML5 test. We refrained from performing page load tests as they would vary depending on the Internet connection speed at the time of testing, making comparisons difficult.

The machine we ran the browsers on had a pretty standard configuration and wasn’t particularly high-end. It was running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on a 3.10GHz AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition CPU, 4GB DDR2 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT GPU connected to a 1920×1080 resolution display.

You can see how the browsers performed below:

As you can see, Chrome consistently outperforms all the other browsers in almost every test. It even outstrips Safari in every benchmark by a healthy margin, despite running on the same basic WebKit engine. Other browsers weren’t too far back though, except for IE9, which apart from the impressive Sunspider score, lagged behind in every other benchmark.

In real life usage the difference is even less, with all the browsers managing to give extremely fast page loading times. Only issues I ever faced were in Opera and occasionally IE9, where the page was clearly not looking the way it was supposed to. The other three had no such issues and rendered every site correctly.

Personally, I found Chrome best of the lot in terms of features, UI and performance. Being an Internet company Google certainly knows its business and it shows in their web browser, which has some nice features lacking in others. It also has the second largest library of extensions for any of these browsers, bested only by the Firefox although realistically, Chrome’s numbers are higher because Firefox’s extensions often don’t work when the browser is updated. The implementation of the store for downloading these extensions on Chrome is also the best of the lot.

It’s because of the little things that the Chrome edges ahead. Although to be honest, you can’t really go wrong with any of these browsers. They are good all enough to be paid money for, which makes the fact that they are free even better.

Nokia introduce Symbian Anna - How to update….?

Nokia released its Symbian Anna update last week for the N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 handsets and has released an introductory video of the Anna UI to familiarize users with it and, naturally, brag a little about it. Not only that but they’ve put up a dedicated page on how to upgrade to Symbian Anna using the Ovi Suite, the Nokia Software updater for Mac and finally, the in-built updater app on the supported Symbian phones.
The first video focuses the viewer’s attention to four main concepts of Anna – the new design, the battle-proven Nokia maps navigation, the updated, faster web browser and finally, the better PIM (multiple emails support, file manager, business-grade security and more). Jump after the break for the full video.
The video offers direct links to four other videos, depending on what you want to see. You can get a closer look at each of the main concepts.
Let’s move on to the guide-page on how to upgrade your Symbian^3 device to Anna (Source link below). You can opt to update the fastest way – through the in-built app called Software Update on your N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 device. The other way is through the Ovi Suite on a PC or a dedicated Nokia Software Update for Mac. You’ll have to connect your supported Nokia device to a data cable and load up the NSU application.
Finally, there’s a second video teaser of the new Anna features. It’s nothing new compared to the above-mentioned but here it goes anyway.
Nokia released Anna just last week and already it’s teasing us with the Symbian Belle update. A lot of Symbian focus out of Nokia these days – not bad.

Facebook - Latest update....!

Facebook has often been chided in the past for disregarding its user’s privacy but over the years they kept adding more options to further protect your data from those whom you don’t want to share it with. But today they have released what is perhaps the biggest update that brings a host of new options, taking privacy to a whole new level.

First of all, you can now change who can see your profile page information from your profile with a simple drop down menu. You can also see how your profile will look to others, whether they are your friends or not.

Tired of being tagged in photos you don’t want to without your permission? The new review feature will let you choose which pictures you appear in and you can then approve or reject pictures as you like. You also get to approve which of the tagged pictures appear in your profile. You can also tag anyone on Facebook now, not just your friends, and the new review feature can let them choose whether to be tagged.

Now when you are posting on Facebook, you can also choose to make the post publicly visible or only to your friends. You can also share it with a select group of your friends or a community that you may be part of. You can also change who can view the post after you post it, in case you change your mind.

Lastly, now you can also choose to add your location to your posts.

Samsung puts its new naming convention to good use

Samsung has worked up a new naming scheme for its Androids and today we’re seeing the first phones to abide by the new rules. Of course, old models fit the new naming scheme too, but what Samsung has done is codified the tiers (low, mid, high, premium, and “Super Smart”).

gsmarena 003 Samsung puts its new naming convention to good use, lets check out the new models and see if it works
I’ll go over the four new models from Samsung (which hail from the M, W and Y lines) along with a few older ones (that conform to the new naming scheme) to see how well it works. You’re welcome to join me.

First, here’s how the new naming scheme works – Samsung’s Android phones will carry the Galaxy name and will be put into one of five categories signified by a letter. A few special suffixes will denote special features too.

Let’s take a look the new Samsung Galaxy W – it’s a W phone so, it’s relatively high up on the ladder and focuses on looks and performance. Basically, it’s a mid-tier device (3.7″ WVGA TFT, 1.4GHz CPU, 5MP camera) and goes for clean, sleek look.

So far, so good. Let’s look at another model from a couple of months ago – the I9103 Galaxy R. It goes for a dual-core 1GHz CPU and packs a 4.2″ SC-LCD screen. The R line offers premium devices, so you can expect things like this – good alternatives to the S line for non-powerusers.

The Galaxy S line is well known and continues to carry Samsung’s flagship droid. I have a feeling there will be only one or two phones in this class at any given time – so, you get the latest Galaxy S and what you’ll have is the best Samsung has to offer. There’s nothing new here really, just the Galaxy S II.

Of course, part of navigation the gadget world is getting the most bang for your buck. The Galaxy M Pro B7800 offers a 1GHz CPU, 5MP camera and a relatively high-ppi screen. It’s part of the performance on a budget M series.
The “Pro” tag has so far traditionally stood for a phone with a physical QWERTY and sure enough the Galaxy M Pro has one.

I mentioned the S line, some might have thought I forgot about the I9001 Galaxy S Plus – I haven’t. The Plus suffix means that Samsung has taken an old design and have bumped up a small subset of its features, in this case the CPU (from 1GHz to 1.4GHz). The Galaxy S Plus is not actually a flagship model. In the future, we might see Plus models with better cameras, or screens or another upgrade.

There’s a third suffix – LTE – which obviously indicates 4G LTE connectivity. This is great since all the carriers started tagging on “4G” to phones that didn’t actually have 4G – the new system makes it much clearer. There aren’t any LTE models yet, at least not ones that officially carry the suffix.
I got side-tracked by these suffixes and almost forgot about the Galaxy Y S5360 and Galaxy Y Pro B5510. Those are entry-level devices (the second model obviously comes with a keyboard) and target youths, which is pretty much what the Y series is about.

Okay, now you should be able to guess pretty accurately the specs of any new Samsungs that come out. You’ll get a chance to practice during IFA (starts September 2nd) when Samsung will show off these and hopefully some other models.
