Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 & Galaxy Mega 6.3 - launched in India

Samsung has launched the  Galaxy Mega 5.8, the company’s latest smartphone in the Mega series in India. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 was announced last month, packs a 5.8-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera. and comes with dual SIM support with dual Standby and dual SIM Always On feature that enables the user to receive calls on one SIM number while taking a call from the other.
It has Group Play for easy content sharing, Samsung Link, S Translator, Story Album, Multi Window and ChatON Messaging service.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 is priced at Rs. 25,100. It comes with data offers, unlimited WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook access from Reliance for 3 months and free data from Vodafone and would go on sale across India next week.
Samsung also launched the  Galaxy Mega 6.3, the company’s latest smartphone in the Mega series in India along with the Galaxy Mega 5.8.  It was announced last month, packs a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera.
It has Group Play for easy content sharing, Samsung Link, Samsung WatchON offers program recommendations, schedules, and remotely control your TV, S Translator, Story Album, Air View to preview emails, photos in the gallery using hand gestures, Multi Window, Pop Up Play and ChatON Messaging service.

Gurdeep Singh, former Aircel COO joins Reliance Communications as CEO

Reliance Communications today announced the appointment of former Aircel COO Gurdeep Singh as President & CEO of its Wireless Business.

Prior to joining Reliance Group, Gurdeep was the Chief Operating Officer, India, with Aircel. He has also worked in Hutch (Now Vodafone) as Director – Operations, North, for about 5 years.


Speaking on the development, Gurdeep Singh said, “I am delighted to be a part of the Reliance Group and look forward to an exciting journey in taking Reliance Communications Wireless Business to greater heights”.

Reliance Slashes 3G Tariffs, Launches 1 GB 3G Plan for Rs. 98

Reliance Communications (RCOM), India’s fully integrated telecommunications service provider, today introduces some exciting and affordable 3G Data Packs starting from just Rs. 98 offering 1 GB 3G Data usage for subscribers in all 3G circles across India.


According to our exclusive sources, with the new price reduction, Reliance Mobile’s new 1 GB 3G Data plans will be available for Rs. 98 – 2 Days, Rs. 153- 7 days and Rs. 255 for 30 Days from the date of activation. The new 3G Data plans will be available from 23 May 2012.

Reliance to roll out 4G network in India

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) plans to roll out 4G network in India in partnership with Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (HFCL) according to Economic Times. Reliance Industries bought 95% stake in Infotel Broadband in June 2010 which is is the only firm to win Broadband spectrum in all 22 circles in India.


Reliance-owned Infotel Broadband will focus on key aspects and monitor the roll-out and HFCL would concentrate on execution and management. Reliance is also looking to set up 1,00,000 towers for its 4G venture.

Bharti Airtel is the only operator in the country to launch 4G services. They launched 4G services in Kolkata in April, Bengaluru earlier this month and plans to launch 4G services in Pune in Maharashtra and Chandigarh in Punjab soon.

Other companies who owns 4G licenses are Aircel, Tikona, Qualcomm , MTNL and Augere.
