Capture, Edit & Share Photos With The Official Flickr App For Android

00-Flickr-By-Yahoo!-Featured
Yahoo! released their official Flickr client for iOS a couple of years ago while the Android variant of said app probably wasn’t even in the pipeline. Well, the official Flickr mobile client has just arrived in the Android Market. Along with the ability to edit (apply filters to) and share photos over the network, Flickr for Android brings an unending stream of photos shared by more than 60 million Flickr users, a camera replacement, geo-tagging, privacy filters for sharing pictures online, slideshows and more.

01-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Welcome
Provided the years-old trusted services of Yahoo! and their photo sharing wonder, Flickr, you’d have to be an alien to photo sharing if you don’t at least own an account of said service. The Flickr app, by the way, requires you to log in with your Yahoo credentials. If, for some reason, you don’t have a Yahoo ID, you can use your Facebook or Gmail ID. If you want to create a new account, you can avail the in-app registration facility.

Once logged in, you’re taken to the Activity screen that displays your recent activities on Flickr (comments and all). If your account is void of pictures, you are offered to join the Flickr world by sharing your first snap. The best way of doing this is by pressing the Take a picture now button.

Grab a photo, give it a title, add some details, add an exotic filter (interestingly, based on the names of famous cities), tap Next, add another social network/mail client of yours (requires login) and finally, hit Upload.

Talking of capturing images, Flickr has its own built-in camera, though with just basic options and nothing noteworthy. While in the camera, you get buttons for enabling/disabling flash, importing an image from your device’s gallery, setting aspect ratio for the picture and jumping to your Flickr gallery. Details that can be added to any image (which you wish to share) include a brief description, tags and toggles to keep location as well as the photo public or private. Under the private menu, you can opt to share the photo with your family, friends or both.

While the You tab on the app’s homescreen carries all your Flickr shares and favorites, the Contacts tab contains all the photos shared by your friends. Don’t have a Flickr friend? Just tap the Find your friends now! button to head over to the app’s search screen from where you can search for both people and photos. This screen also keeps a tab on your recent searches.
08-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Photo-Details11-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Find-People
If you searched for a person, you can view a list of matching users, where in front of each user, the list displays the number of photos and videos he/she shared on Flickr. You may sort all users by number of items shared (tap Menu > Sort),

If however, you’re on the result screen for photos, you can tap the Menu button to Sort images by relevance, recent or by interest. You can also Refine the search results by photostream, favorites, contacts or all. For all the photos displayed on the search screen, you have the choice of viewing them listed according to their titles, online stats and the user who has shared them.

Tap on a photo of interest to view it on the photostream of the user along with its details, comments, location and various statistics. You can tap on a photo to view it in full screen. From here, you can play the slideshow of all images shared by a particular contact (awfully slow), add your own comment to a photo, share it with your online buddies and add it to favorites. Downloaded photos, by the way, are saved in the sdcard/Downloads folder.

With so many other photo editing/sharing/filtering alternatives already present in the Android Market, Flickr has to come up with better features to stay ahead in the race. In fact, the real-time Photo Session feature that Yahoo has recently incorporated into Flickr’s official iPhone & iPad client, if added to the Android variant too, would be enough to send a strong message to all those alternatives.
Flickr is available for free in the Android Market. You may download the app via the Market link or QR code provided below.

Clean your PC and Improve Performance with Windisk

Windisk is an advanced system cleaning application to help you improve PC responsiveness by removing junk files from your system. It cleans up all temporary files, browser data (from Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari), list of recently viewed items, and invalid registry keys.

Windisk is not different from CCleaner except for the fact that it works in a more automated manner and delivers cleaning results only in the form of a log file. Perhaps the best feature of Windisk is its ability to remove your browsing traces and system clutter when you log off, thus effectively erasing all traces left behind.

Once launched, click Clean to open a drop down menu and choose to clean data only from the current user, all users and from the entire system. Only Administrators can clean all users and system.

Clean
When you select any of the aforementioned cleaning options, the system is cleansed from junk files automatically. There is no progress bar to indicate the cleaning procedure but you can view the name of the directory being cleaned from the bottom of the interface. Click Stop to stop the cleaning process anytime.

cleaning
To view the result of the cleaning process, click Logs (from main interface). This will display a detailed result of the current and previous cleaning tasks. You can also use the search box to locate logs from previous dates.

Log
From Options, under Management tab, you can enable cleaning up of junk files for all users and the Windows search database. If you wish to manage log settings then head over to the Local Preferences tab and move the slider (up or down) to set the level of detail that is to be saved in logs and the number of days logs should be kept. You can add custom files, folders and registry keys for removal from the System Clean tab.

For example, you can add a folder which may contain log files for and applications which may not be detected by Windisk by default. The Default tab can be used to add or remove default cleaning directories. For example, you can disable cleaning of junk files from Windows Search, RecycleBin, browsers, plugin modules and the like. You can also go to Advanced option within this tab to enable cleanup of junk files whenever you log off. This option is disabled by default.

Default
Windisk has a free and paid versions (secure, corporate and corporate secure versions) with a per unit starting price of $50 (approximately). The paid versions provides additional options such as scheduling junk file removal, controlled removal of junk files from a network location and multiple user account support. Windisk works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.

A Desktop Search Tool for your USB Drive

You like to carry all your important files and documents on a USB drive but when you plug that drive into another computer, you are unable to search the contents of that external disk through the built-in Windows search as the files have not been indexed yet.

Rather than wait for Windows to index your files for searching, what you may do is carry a desktop search utility in the USB disk itself that knows everything about your existing files and thus you can use search as soon as you plug the drive.

One such utility that you may want to give a try is Dropout – this is a portable Windows search tool that requires no configuration or installation. You just need to copy the Dropout.exe file to your USB disk’s root folder (home directory) and it will let you instantly search all the files in the current directory and those inside sub-folders.

When you first run Dropout, it creates its own search index inside an hidden sub-directory and thus it won’t have to re-index files when you use the USB stick on a different computer. The search index updates itself in an incremental manner whenever you run Dropout next so your new / updated files are automatically included.

And Dropout just doesn’t let search files based on their names or extensions, it even lets you find files based on their content (full text search) just like the real Windows search. Get it!

Features
Super fast searching <1sec
Totally portable
Search multiple directories
Exclude files
Incremental indexing of files
Background indexing allows you to search during indexing
Indexing ALL text files
Search history via auto complete
Only .NET 2.0 required
Single exe created using IL-Merge
Configurable via ini file (not required)
Open the file from the interface
Open the containing directory from the interface

Google+ Now Lets You “Share” Your Circles With Other Users

In case you’re still using Google+ (I kid, I kid, the other social network is doing well, apparently), the Google+ team has made it easy to “share” your Circles with friends today, by enabling an option to send other users a list of Circle members on your Google+ Circles page.

Users who want to “share” the contents of their meticulously curated Circles can now click on the Share button as well as Edit and Delete in the Circles options menu and then select the Google+ user or users they want to share the Circle with.

The share function doesn’t reveal the name of the Circle (so the fact that you put your boss into “People I am not friends with” stays with you) and doesn’t reveal any changes you make to the Circle after sharing.

Users receiving the Circle can then make their own private edits after the fact, like adding you to “People I am not friends with” even.
Says Google Engineer Owen Prater,
“One of my favorite parts about circles is how they help me control who I share with, as well as what I read. In fact, many of you have created lots of great circles around topics that interest you (like Photographers) to bring lots of great content to your stream. In these cases, we’ve heard that you actually want to share your circles with others. Both to save your friends some time, and to connect them with interesting people and content.”
The update should be rolling out to everyone in the next couple of hours, according to Prater.

How to Bypass 100 SMS Per Day Restriction

Apps To Bypass 100 SMS Per Day Restriction

Attention all the Heavy usage/ SMS Lovers – as mentioned in our earlier post TRAI regulated all the Operators SMS service providers to limit 100 sms  per day to avoid spam.

We know it’s hard to hear but we have some tips and suggestions for you to handle this situation on alternate resources. So get going with reading to know more.

One suggestion is to limit your sms per day which TRAI has already done. The next one is to have the entire conversation lengthy to utilize the character limit of sms 160 per message so that you can have an effective use of sms and reduce the number of sms used.

If you are more social with your friends and need a heavy usage continue reading

What you need first? Prerequisites.

1. A smart phone or least a Java phone (Assuming all TT readers are at least having a Java compatible device).

2. A minimal Data plan required (It is obvious that all the users have an active data plan now-a-days) if not active on any data plan we suggest to get any cheapest/lowest data pack available with your operator because all this needs only Kbs* of data if you chat for about 30min (As far as we tested). If you are always active on a data plan it’s an added advantage.

Now it goes like this…

There are a few Apps that are available for free in Respective App stores namely:
  • WhatsApp Messenger
  • Fring
  • Nimbuzz
  • Ebuddy Messenger
  • Skype
From all the available apps our favorite is WhatsApp Messenger which will be full filling the need and we will be talking about this now.

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia.

In addition to basic messaging iPhone, Android, Nokia and BlackBerry WhatsApp Messenger users can send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages. It’s awesome! Isn’t it?

Some of its awesome features include:

1) Multiplatform
2) Group Chat
3) Push Notifications
4) Instant Contacts
5) Free sms and MMS
6) Custom status
7) Chat Background

Now coming to the Application, just install it from your respective app store and register with your Original Mobile Number (Which all your friends know, this is something just like your contact No will show up if you sms to your contacts) as this app’s basic function or primary purpose is to use your mobile number as a custom profile recognition identity with your name included.

Ask your family and friends also to install the Application and register their phone number and that’s the start for an awesome experience.

This App will smoothly integrate into your phone book, automatically starts on load and will always be available in the background to get you any incoming messages from your friends.

The favorites (from pic) is nothing but it automatically recognizes all the contacts who have installed WhatsApp on their phone and sorts them to this list, also shows up their status(Available ,offline or their custom status).

Even if you are offline all your messages will be definitely delivered to you after you signed in. Just like messengers.

So if all the contact members in my phone book use WhatsApp they all will be coming under Favorites section so that we can chat each other using the data.
One thing we want to say “The most awesome feature of this App is its ability to integrate into phonebook, recognize all the WhatsApp registered users depending upon Phone Numbers and also gives a status message when the person is typing a message for you”.

You also get a Tick to your message when the message is delivered-Delivery Report feature you can also send an invitation to those who have not installed this App with the built in feature. This is an awesome experience packed which comes with just installing a small App and with little data usage we can send unlimited messages or even files.

Coming to the other Apps depending on your interest you can install them and suggest your friends also to install the same so that you can get connected each other using the App and these Apps uses the data as the WhatsApp Application so that you can message/call or share files each other.

The other Apps don’t depend on your Phone number but depend on your User ID or E-Mail registered. As it requires everybody to register a new E-mail or User ID that is why we are suggesting you WhatsApp application for this purpose.

All the other Apps function just like normal Online/Offline Messengers. The other Apps may or may not be available on all the platforms.

We promise once you are alright with the application and data pack from your side this Application “WhatsApp Messenger” will give an awesome messaging experience leaving you the disturbances caused in-between ongoing conversations by normal Sms balance Notifications.

If you are not satisfied with this App or solution provided our simple suggestion is to get a dual SIM mobile or some spare SIM cards so that you can extend your sms limit by using all the limitations on the remaining extra Numbers.

So get a WhatsApp and set no limits to your Rocket speed messaging. If you’re using any of the mentioned Apps happily just do post how much time you are using that App and what is the data usage?

If you have any alternate ways to tackle 100 SMS restriction do let us know via comments.

How To Enable Facebook Timeline

Facebook announced Timeline, a crazy (and kind of creepy) omnibus look at everything that has ever happened in your Facebook lifespan. It’s like a story book of your life — or at least the online, documented parts.

Facebook said that Timeline would be on the way for everyone sometime in the coming weeks… which is great and all, for everyone else. You’re the type of person who reads TechCrunch, and are thus likely the type of person who likes their new and shiny things right now.

That’s okay. We can make it happen.

Fortunately, enabling Timeline a bit early isn’t too difficult — but it’s not at all straight forward, either.

You see, Facebook is enabling Timeline early for open graph developers. You, too, can be an open graph developer — even if you’re just looking to dabble.

A few things to note:

- You probably don’t want to do this unless you’re actually a developer. Expect bugs.

- Only you will see your timeline at first (unless you decide otherwise), but it will automatically go public after a few days. My timeline was automatically hard-set to go public on September 29th.

- It seems that if you login into Facebook on another machine, Timeline gets disabled automatically on all of your machines.

With that said, it seems you can get back to your timeline (but ONLY after following the steps below) by navigating to http://www.facebook.com/YOURUSERNAMEHERE?sk=timeline

- You’ll need to have a “verified” account for one of the steps, which means you need a credit card or phone number attached to the account

Here’s how to do it:

1. Log into Facebook

2. Enable developer mode, if you haven’t already. To do this, type “developer” into the Facebook search box, click the first result (it should be an app made by Facebook with a few hundred thousand users), and add the app.

3. Jump into the developer app (if Facebook doesn’t put you there automatically, it should be in your left-hand tool bar)

4. Create a new app (don’t worry — you wont actually be submitting this for anyone else to see/use). Give your shiny new app any display name and namespace you see fit. Read through and agree to the Platform Privacy agreement. This is the step you need to be verified for.

5. Ensure you’re in your new app’s main settings screen. You should see your app’s name near the top of the page

6. Look for the “Open Graph” header, and click the “Get Started using open graph” link.

Create a test action for your app, like “read” a “book”, or “eat” a “sandwich”

7. This should drop you into an action type configuration page. Change a few of the default settings (I changed the past tense of “read” to “redd” — again, only you can see this unless you try and submit your application to the public directory), and click through all three pages of settings

8. Wait 2-3 minutes

9. Go back to your Facebook homescreen. An invite to try Timeline should be waiting at the top of the page

And you’re done! We’ve seen this work quite a few times now, so it should work without a hitch for just about anyone.
